Linphone 6: A Highly Anticipated Release

The new version of Linphone is now available!

Since its launch in 2001, Linphone has benefited from over two decades of research and development. Today, we’re reaching a major milestone in user experience by offering a modern, smooth, and intuitive communication solution — a true open-source alternative to mainstream proprietary apps. This new release is built on version 5.4 of the Liblinphone SDK.

The Android version is officially live

After more than a year of development, the stable release of Linphone 6.0 for Android is now available. This new version brings numerous updates and improvements, including:

  • A completely redesigned interface;
  • A smooth and consistent user experience;
  • Support for Single Sign-On (SSO) for easier login;
  • Advanced management of multiple accounts;

Linphone 6.0 for iOS: The Public Beta is Now Available

It’s official: the beta version of Linphone 6.0 for iOS is now available via TestFlight! This is your chance to explore the all-new version — smoother, more ergonomic — and share your first impressions. Our goal? A stable final release in the coming weeks.

Linphone 6 Desktop available in beta

All audio and video call features have been tested, validated, and are now stable, except for conference calls, which are still being optimized. If you only use simple calls, this version is fully usable for daily use. Instant messaging will be added later. Feel free to test this beta version now!

Performance Improvements

Overall app performance has been significantly improved thanks to a multi-threaded architecture and the use of modern technologies such as Qt6, SwiftUI, and Kotlin. The result: a faster, smoother, and more responsive experience across all platforms.

Android Auto & Linphone: Coming Soon

Good news for Android users: Linphone will soon be compatible with Android Auto. Hands-free calling, voice commands, and a simplified in-car interface are all on the way. This feature is currently awaiting official approval from Google, with a release expected mid-year.
